Represents a rare natural phenomenon. In 2002, it was inscribed on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/whc.unesco.org\/en\/tentativelists\/1700\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the UNESCO Heritage list<\/a><em>,&nbsp;<\/em>as well. Exactly 202 figures in the soil, bedecked with rock caps. Standing up to fifteen metres high and three metres wide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a lot of legends about this place. One of them says they are in fact a group of petrified wedding guests &#8211; the bride and groom tricked by the devil into marrying a brother and a sister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyhow, scientists have found that the Devil\u2019s Town was created by erosion of the soil caused by heavy precipitation, which carried away layers of clay, while the parts of the soil underneath the rock caps remained intact. With the effects of wind, the sun and temperature changes, we are left with the curiously-shaped figures we see today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nearby there are two springs: \u201c\u0110avolja voda\u201d (Devil\u2019s Water) and \u201cCrveno vrelo\u201d (Red spring).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Sv. Petka church<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the legends about Devil\u2019s Town says that figures represent devils, wich were carried on humans back for a long time with great suffering, and transformed into stones, by spending the night in front of the st.
