Only 230 km from Belgrade, roughly halfway to the Montenegrin coast, is the mountain of Zlatibor. It is fair to say that this is the capital of Serbian tourism, as every year it is visited by more than 200 thousand tourists. Zlatibor is characterized by a remarkable fresh mountain air, perfect climate, numerous springs of medicinal water and landscapes of outstanding beauty.
On the slopes of the great Zlatibor plateau there are many cultural and historical monuments, ancient villages, natural beauty and beautiful examples of old architecture and traditional method of construction. Visitors can ride the old railway track on the nearby Sargan hill or visit Sirogojno, an authentic village from the 19th century. Flora and fauna of Zlatibor are adorned with diverse flora and fauna, and numerous cultural, artistic, sporting, hunting, fishing and other events are organized for visitors.
Ethno village in Mokra Gora, in western Serbia, between Zlatibor and Tara, was built by famous Serbian film director Emir Kusturica. Authentic log cabins on Mecavnik, partly transferred from the neighboring villages, were built in the style typical for this part of Serbia. Each cabin has a unique exterior appearance and bears the name of its original owner. Hand-made furniture, artwork and embroidered curtains in cabin interiors create a warm, intimate atmosphere. All rooms have individual bathrooms, equipped with a plasma TV and telephone.
